OziExplorerCE

Img2ozf Introduction

The Img2ozf program converts Image files to the OZFx3 image file format for use in PC OziExplorer and OziExplorerCE.

The use of Img2Ozf to convert images is essential when using OziExplorerCE as the OZFx3 format is the only image format that OziExplorerCE can use. (Note: ECW format is also supported on PDA's using ARM cpu's.)

(OziExplorerCE can also use the older OZF2 format but this format can no longer be produced by Img2Ozf.)

Note: The Img2ozf program cannot create .map files necessary for using maps in PC OziExplorer and OziExplorerCE. Only PC OziExplorer can create .map files either by importing maps from other sources or calibrating images of maps.

What is the OZFx3 Image Format?

The OZFx3 format stores the image in tiles, each tile can be manipulated as a single unit.

Img2ozf Version 3

This version of img2ozf produces Ozfx3 files for use with OziExplorerCE version 1.12.0 and later and OziExplorer version 3.95.4i and later.

Img2ozf now works different to the previous versions, it now looks for OziExplorer .map files. It converts the image pointed to by the .map file and creates a new .map file for the converted image. You cannot convert images unless a .map file has been created by PC OziExplorer. The previous version simply looked for image files.

This version also allows you to transfer the map files and images to your PDA.

Please note that the Ozfx3 files produced from normal map images will be used exactly the same as the Ozf2 files produced by the old img2ozf. Ozfx3 files produced from licensed image formats will have the same restrictions on saving and printing as the original images.
